Baby Dedication

“Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Deuteronomy 6:5-7

Christian parents dedicate a child to make a promise to the Lord to do everything they can to raise their child in a godly manner, until the child can make the decision on his or her own to follow the Lord. The church also commits to do all that it can to assist with the child’s spiritual development. We encourage members to invite family, friends, godparents, and guests to share in this joyous occasion!

If you would like to schedule your child’s dedication, please complete the form below to Yuleci Francis at yfrancis@sjbcfamily.com or call the church office at 972-264-1483.

Baptism

Are you ready to make your personal decision to follow Christ a public declaration?

Why Be Baptized?

We are baptized because Christ commanded it. Consider these words of Jesus found in Matthew 28:19-20: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I will be with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Matthew records these words as the final explicit instructions of Jesus before He ascended to heaven. This passage is called the Great Commission because it’s the foundation for our local and global missions’ presence. Therefore, if:

  1. Going is a part of the Great Commission
  2. Making disciples is a part of the Great Commission; and
  3. Teaching is a part of the Great Commission, then

Baptizing is also a part of the Great Commission!

Did you notice the logical progression? We are to go and spread the gospel. In our witnessing, we will make disciples. We are to baptize those disciples and then teach them to obey the words of Jesus. Baptism is part of Jesus’ command to the church.

Let’s be clear, baptism does not save us.  Our personal decision to trust Christ happens before baptism. Baptism makes our decision public and is our response to the clear command of Jesus Christ!

We recommend that those desiring to be baptized walk towards the altar during the invitation period, which usually occurs after the sermon, as a public sign of his/her faith in Jesus Christ. Once this step is taken, our decision counselors will collect information from you and additional details will be provided. A letter will be sent in the mail with additional information. You can also fill out the form below and a member of our staff will connect with you.

Victory Place Biblical Counseling Center

Website: Care and Support—Victory Place Biblical Counseling Center:

Additional Note: below is the primary sections of the counseling webpage: Our Beliefs, Our Goal, Our Hope, Our Services, and Our Groups. The aim for the layout is not an outline appearance (It is just the way staff have it organized). However, under “Our Beliefs” I would prefer that to be listed verses summed up into a paragraph…each is very scripturally specific.

 Our Beliefs:
  • We believe that the inerrant Word of God is sufficient for all the spiritual needs of the individual in matters of godliness, Romans 15:4; 2 Peter 1:3.
  • We believe that the Word of God is able to change people, 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12.
  • We believe that as Christians we are called to holiness and obedience, 1 Peter 1:15-16; 1 John 2:3.
  • We believe that because of the fall of man (Gen. 3) all are in need of the Word and the work of God, Colossians 3:16, John 3:3.
  • We believe our Savior is the example, Philippians 2:5; 1 Peter 2:21.

We believe that the Bible provides thorough guidance and instruction for faith and life (2 Peter 1:3 and Romans 15:4). Therefore, our counseling is based only on scriptural principles rather than those of secular psychology or psychiatry. Although some of the pastoral or lay counselors of this church may be licensed in other fields, such as medicine or psychology, they will not practice as professionals but as Biblical counselors.

Our Goal: Our goal in providing biblical counseling is to help you meet the challenges of life in a way that will please and honor the Lord Jesus Christ and allow you to enjoy fully His love for you and His plans for your life, Colossians 1:28.

Our Hope: And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified. Romans 8:28-30

Our Services: We serve individuals, couples, and families that are struggling with many types of problems. Additionally, we offer support groups for some of the challenges experienced in life (e.g. divorce, grief, cancer, or single parenting). All of our counseling and group services are biblical in approach.

If you are interested in finding out more about our biblical counseling ministry please call our church office at 972-264-1483 or email victoryplace@sjbcfamily.com.
